About Aby
I specialize in production design, prop styling, 3D prop development, custom surfaces and still life styling. I am known for my creative problem solving skills and collaborative spirit. My specialty is being highly adaptable and creative within budgets and tight deadlines.
Raised by an artist and an expert in retail management, my background is uniquely tailored for still life styling. My personal art work focuses on mixed media installation, sculpture and book arts. I have gained many creative skills in all media ranging from handmade paper and textiles to wood, glass and bronze.
After receiving my MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in sculpture, I studied at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and have taught numerous fine art classes and workshops throughout the midwest. I continue to be inspired by the natural world around me as well as my travels throughout South America, Mexico, Honduras, Europe, and New Zealand.
My personal aesthetic is an eclectic mix of masculine and feminine, ethnic and modern, with a particular penchant for rich colors, textures, and handmade things. My professional styling blends well with a background in fine art and 15 years of experience in retail design. I have an exceptional eye for detail and have worked nationally, on sets and locations with budgets, through shoots of various sizes. I am as comfortable with power tools as I am with pins, tissue, tack and blocks.
